Welcome to Another Day of Life

So here we are. To be honest, I never really expected to be writing here again.

Years ago, this little corner of the internet became a place where I could sort through life. Sometimes it was about fatherhood, faith, chasing goals, or trying to understand why life rarely seems to go according to plan. Mostly, though, it was just about life.

Then life happened. Careers changed, children grew up, and responsibilities multiplied. The days became weeks, the weeks became months, and before I knew it, years had slipped by. Funny how that happens.

I remember when I first started writing here, I was trying to figure out what it meant to be a father. Back then I had young children running around the house. Today, some of those same children are men. I still find that hard to believe.

The Things That Stay the Same

The strange thing is that while many things have changed, many things haven’t. I still wonder if I’m making the right decisions. I still struggle with balancing work and family. I still find myself trying to grow in my faith. I still occasionally lose sight of what is important and need a reminder to get back on course.

Maybe that’s part of being human. We spend so much of our lives thinking that eventually we will “arrive”—that there will come a day when everything finally makes sense. At least for me, that day never showed up. Instead, life seems to be a series of simple lessons learned, forgotten, and learned again:

  • Be patient.
  • Listen more.
  • Spend time with the people you love.
  • Put down the phone.
  • Trust God.
  • Don’t take yourself too seriously.
  • Remember what matters.

What’s Next?

As I thought about relaunching Another Day of Life, I wondered what this site should become. Should it focus on fatherhood? Faith? Family? Personal growth? Leadership?

The answer, I think, is yes. Because life isn’t neatly divided into categories. Everything is connected. So this site will continue to be a place to think, to tell stories, and to share lessons learned from successes, failures, and all the unexpected detours in between.

If you’ve found your way here, thank you. Whether you’re a father trying to lead your family well, someone searching for purpose, or simply another traveler trying to make sense of life’s twists and turns, I’m glad you’re here.

We’ll figure some of it out together. One day at a time.

Welcome to Another Day of Life.
